Starting out in the summer of 2015 myself, Brad and the amazing Andrew where united for the first time on these prestigious grounds. Coming straight from Melbourne to live and work in Brisbane I was on new and unfamiliar terrain. Andrew was amazing with palms and his local plant knowledge was incredible. Working together over a year directed by Pete the QUT head groundskeeper, we set out to return QUT back to its former glory.
They say a picture speaks a thousand words, these pictures speak thousands of hours. The hard work and effort by teams of people that went into some of these photos is incomprehensible. The consistent level of detail maintained on these grounds would have to be seen to be believed. The turf areas are hand weeded and mowed twice a week. The palms are lifted, and all dead fronds and seed pots are removed. All hedges are sharp and maintained immaculately year-round. With a propagation shade house creating a constant supply of new plants and some of the most incredible horticulturalists I’ve ever met, these gardens are ever evolving and progressing.
I no longer work at QUT grounds however Pete, Brad and Andrew still do, their work is absolutely remarkable and if your ever in the area I insist you go there to appreciate one of Brisbane finer parks and gardens.
